ME:   I wanted you to have it on this day.

DOG: [Eyes me suspiciously] Why this day?

ME:   It’s a special day.

DOG: [Looks around.] What’s so special about this day? It’s not my birthday or nothing.

ME:   It’s just special.

ME:   Stop being annoying! I

DOG: Then why is it special?

ME:   It’s adoption day. We got you a year ago.

DOG: I was ADOPTED!?!
